A giant, football-shaped chocolate chip cookie cake with crispy edges and a soft, chewy center. Perfect for game day parties, it’s easy to make and feeds a crowd.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional, for laces)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-inch pizza pan or baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter in 30-second increments until just melted. Let cool for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add brown sugar and granulated sugar to the melted butter. Whisk vigorously for about 1 minute until smooth and glossy.
  4. Whisk in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract until mixture is thick and pudding-like.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, stirring with a wooden spoon or spatula until just combined (a few streaks of flour are okay).
  7. Gently fold in semi-sweet chocolate chips, reserving about 1/4 cup for topping.
  8. Transfer dough to prepared pan. Using lightly greased hands or a spatula, press into a rough football shape about 10 inches long and 7 inches wide, about 1/2-inch thick.
  9. Bake for 18-22 minutes, until edges are golden brown and center is still soft and puffy.
  10. Cool on the pan for at least 15 minutes. While still slightly warm, press reserved white chocolate chips into the center in a line to resemble football laces.
  11. Once fully cooled, slice into wedges and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For a thicker cookie, chill the shaped dough for 30 minutes before baking. If dough is too sticky, refrigerate for 15 minutes before shaping. Use room temperature eggs for best results.
