A visually stunning and easy-to-assemble patriotic charcuterie board featuring a flag design with a mix of cured meats, cheeses, fresh fruits, and crunchy crackers. Perfect for celebrations and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Assorted cured meats (salami, prosciutto, pepperoni)
  • Crackers (water crackers or multigrain, e.g., Triscuit)
  • Sharp cheddar cheese
  • Creamy brie cheese
  • Pepper jack cheese
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Cherry tomatoes, halved
  • Fresh blueberries
  • Small mozzarella balls (bocconcini)
  • Mixed nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts), roasted and unsalted
  • Honey or fig jam
  • Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme sprigs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients (10-15 minutes): Wash and dry berries and tomatoes thoroughly. Slice strawberries and cherry tomatoes evenly. Cut cheeses into bite-sized cubes or slices. Arrange nuts and open small jars of jam or honey for ease of use.
  2. Mark the flag shape on your board (5 minutes): Lightly mark the ‘star’ section on the top-left corner—about one-third of the board’s width and height. Divide the rest of the board into horizontal strips for the stripes.
  3. Arrange the ‘stars’ section (5-10 minutes): Place blueberries densely in the marked corner, filling it completely. Nestle small mozzarella balls among the berries to mimic stars. Use tweezers or carefully place by hand to keep the shape neat.
  4. Create the stripes (15-20 minutes): Alternate rows of sliced strawberries and cherry tomatoes with rows of sliced cheeses and cured meats across the rest of the board. Keep rows straight and uniform for a crisp flag effect.
  5. Fill in gaps and add texture (5 minutes): Scatter nuts around edges and in small gaps. Place small dollops of honey or fig jam on cheeses to add sweetness and visual interest.
  6. Final touches (2-3 minutes): Tuck fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs in corners or between rows for aroma and rustic look. Adjust any uneven rows or clusters for a balanced, colorful display.

Notes

Keep berries and tomatoes dry and add them last to prevent sogginess. Slice cheeses and meats uniformly for a clean look. Avoid overcrowding the board to maintain the flag shape clarity. Store crackers separately to keep them crunchy. For vegan or gluten-free versions, substitute cheeses and crackers accordingly.
