A lighter, tart-forward Halloween sangria featuring blood oranges and pomegranate, perfect for fall parties. Quick to make and naturally lower in sugar, it’s a refreshing crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle dry white wine (750 ml), such as Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio
  • 3 blood oranges, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 cup sparkling water or club soda
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons honey with 2 tablespoons warm water. Stir until honey is completely dissolved.
  2. Wash blood oranges and slice into thin rounds (about 1/4 inch thick). Remove any seeds. Set aside a few slices for garnish.
  3. In a large pitcher, add blood orange slices, pomegranate seeds, and cinnamon stick. Pour dissolved honey mixture over fruit. Gently press with a wooden spoon or muddler a few times to release juices.
  4. Slowly pour the entire bottle of white wine into the pitcher. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, ideally 4-6 hours.
  6. Just before serving, gently stir in sparkling water or club soda.
  7. Fill glasses with ice (if using). Pour sangria, ensuring each glass gets some fruit. Garnish with a reserved blood orange slice. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best flavor, make sangria a day ahead and refrigerate. Add sparkling water just before serving to keep fizz. If sangria tastes flat, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Remove cinnamon stick after 4-6 hours if you prefer a milder spice.
