A lighter version of the classic buffalo chicken dip, using Greek yogurt, reduced-fat cheese, and lean shredded chicken for all the flavor with less guilt. Perfect for game day or any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded (about 12 oz)
  • 8 oz light cream cheese, softened (Neufchâtel)
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (2% or full-fat)
  • 1/2 cup hot buffalo wing sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot Wings)
  • 1 cup shredded reduced-fat cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cup blue cheese crumbles, plus more for topping
  • 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning mix (from a packet)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Celery sticks and carrot sticks, for serving
  • Tortilla chips or pita chips, for serving
  • Extra blue cheese crumbles and chopped chives, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Soften cream cheese to room temperature (about 20 minutes).
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese and Greek yogurt. Beat with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Scrape down sides.
  3. Add buffalo wing sauce, ranch seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix on low speed until evenly combined.
  4. Fold in shredded chicken, 3/4 cup cheddar cheese, and 1/4 cup blue cheese crumbles using a rubber spatula until evenly distributed.
  5. Transfer mixture to an 8×8-inch baking dish or small oven-safe skillet. Spread into an even layer, slightly mounded in the center.
  6. Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup cheddar cheese and remaining blue cheese crumbles over the top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly around edges and top is golden brown. For deeper color, broil last 2 minutes.
  8. Let dip rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  9. Garnish with extra blue cheese crumbles and chopped chives. Serve warm with celery sticks, carrot sticks, tortilla chips, or pita chips.

Notes

For best texture, use room temperature cream cheese and yogurt. Shred chicken while still warm. Avoid fat-free dairy products as they can cause separation. Assemble up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate; add 10 minutes to baking time if starting cold. Freezes well unbaked for up to 3 months.
