A collection of quick, easy, and festive snack ideas perfect for Halloween trunk or treat events, featuring mummy-wrapped hot dogs, pumpkin pretzels, and spooky popcorn mix.

Ingredients

  • Hot dogs or mini sausages (preferably all-beef)
  • Premade crescent roll dough (store-bought)
  • Mustard or ketchup (for eyes)
  • Large pretzels (thick ones preferred)
  • Orange candy melts or colored white chocolate
  • Green candy-coated chocolate or green icing (for pumpkin stems)
  • Popcorn (air-popped or microwave)
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Halloween-themed candies (e.g., candy corn, chocolate eyeballs)
  • Colored sprinkles
  • Optional: Black olives (for spooky eyes)
  • Optional: Cheese sticks (can be cut into fun shapes)
  • Optional: Fresh fruit like grapes or apple slices

Instructions

  1. Make the Mummy-Wrapped Hot Dogs: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll crescent dough and cut into 1/4 inch (6 mm) wide strips. Wrap each hot dog or mini sausage with strips, leaving small gaps to mimic mummy bandages. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown. After cooling slightly, dot mustard or ketchup for eyes using a toothpick.
  2. Prepare Pumpkin Pretzels: Melt orange candy melts in microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between. Dip each large pretzel halfway into melted candy, place on parchment paper. Before candy sets, add green candy-coated chocolate or pipe green icing at the top to resemble pumpkin stem. Let cool completely until hard.
  3. Create Spooky Popcorn Mix: In a large bowl, combine popped popcorn, mini marshmallows, and Halloween-themed candies. Toss gently to distribute. Optionally add colored sprinkles. Serve immediately or store in airtight container until ready.
  4. Assemble and Transport: Arrange all snacks on trays or disposable containers. Keep mummy hot dogs warm in a covered dish if possible. Pack napkins and small plates for serving.

Notes

Do not overwrap hot dogs to maintain mummy effect. Let candy melts cool slightly before dipping pretzels to avoid drips. Use fresh popcorn to avoid sogginess. Chill crescent dough briefly if sticky. Heat candy melts in short bursts and stir often; add a drop of vegetable oil if thickened. Bake mummy hot dogs last to keep warm. Imperfections add charm.
