This Easy Candy Corn Popcorn Snack Mix is the perfect salty-sweet treat for fall. Made with popcorn, candy corn, pretzels, and peanuts, it’s a quick and addictive snack mix that’s ideal for parties, movie nights, and Halloween gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels, or one standard bag of microwave popcorn, lightly salted)
  • 1 cup candy corn
  • 1 cup mini pretzel twists
  • 1 cup salted dry-roasted peanuts
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional, only if using unsalted popcorn and peanuts)

Instructions

  1. Pop your popcorn. If using stovetop kernels, add about 2 tablespoons of oil to a large pot over medium-high heat, drop in a few test kernels, and when they pop, add the remaining 1/2 cup kernels. Cover and shake occasionally until popping slows. If using microwave popcorn, follow package directions. You want about 8 cups of popped popcorn total. Remove any unpopped kernels.
  2. Spread the popcorn out on a large baking sheet or in your biggest mixing bowl. Let it cool for just a minute or two so it’s still warm but not steaming.
  3. Melt the butter. In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter in 20-second bursts, stirring between each, until fully melted. Alternatively, melt it in a small saucepan over low heat. Don’t let it brown.
  4. Drizzle the butter over the warm popcorn. Use a spatula to gently toss and coat the popcorn as evenly as possible.
  5. Add the candy corn, pretzels, and peanuts. Sprinkle them over the buttered popcorn, distributing them evenly.
  6. Toss everything together gently. Use your hands or a large spatula to mix everything without crushing the popcorn.
  7. Taste and adjust. Add more salt or candy corn if desired.
  8. Let it rest for 5 minutes to allow the candy corn to soften slightly and the flavors to meld.
  9. Serve immediately or store for later. If making ahead, transfer to an airtight container and store at room temperature.

Notes

Don’t skip the butter—it helps the candy corn and pretzels stick to the popcorn and adds richness. Use warm popcorn for best butter absorption. Watch salt levels; the pretzels and peanuts add plenty. For extra crunch, spread on a baking sheet and bake at 250°F for 15 minutes. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For a nut-free version, omit peanuts and add extra pretzels or roasted chickpeas.
