These crispy witch finger breadsticks are a fun and spooky Halloween snack, featuring breadsticks shaped like fingers with almond slice nails, brushed with a flavorful garlic butter glaze, and served with marinara dipping sauce.

Ingredients

  • Pre-made breadstick dough (about 12 sticks)
  • Almond slices (thinly sliced and slightly pointed, for fingernails)
  • Unsalted butter, 4 tablespoons (about 60g), melted
  • Garlic powder, 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder, ½ teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika, ¼ teaspoon
  • Salt, ½ teaspoon
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Marinara sauce, 1 cup (240ml)
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Shape the breadsticks into witch fingers by stretching each to about 6 inches (15 cm) long. Pinch and indent the dough at three spots along each stick to create knuckles and taper one end to form the fingertip.
  3. Press one almond slice onto the tapered tip of each finger to resemble a fingernail.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Brush the garlic butter glaze generously over the shaped breadsticks, making sure to get into the knuckle indentations.
  6. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and crispy at the edges. Watch the almond nails to avoid burning.
  7. While baking, warm the marinara sauce gently in a saucepan or microwave.
  8. Remove breadsticks from the oven and let cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet to crisp up further.
  9. Serve warm with the marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Use room temperature dough for easier shaping. Pinch knuckles to create realistic finger joints and allow glaze to pool. Watch almonds carefully to avoid burning. For extra crispiness, broil 1-2 minutes at the end but watch closely. Let breadsticks cool slightly before serving to firm up. If dough is sticky, lightly flour hands or surface. Almonds can be pressed back on if they pop off during baking.
