A quick and addictive snack featuring thick-cut bacon twisted and coated in a caramelized brown sugar glaze, delivering a perfect balance of crispy, sweet, and smoky flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 thick-cut bacon strips
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • Pinch of cayenne or smoked paprika (optional)
  • Non-stick cooking spray or parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Pat the bacon strips dry with paper towels if extra wet. Twist each strip loosely into a spiral shape.
  3. In a shallow bowl or plate, combine brown sugar, black pepper, and optional cayenne or smoked paprika.
  4. Roll each twisted bacon strip through the brown sugar mixture, pressing lightly to adhere the sugar.
  5. Arrange the coated twists on the prepared baking sheet or on a cooling rack placed over the sheet, leaving space between each.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, watching closely after 18 minutes until sugar is bubbly and bacon edges are dark golden and crispy.
  7. Remove from oven and cool slightly on a paper towel-lined plate or wire rack to drain excess grease and harden the glaze.

Notes

Use thick-cut bacon for best texture. Keep twists loose for even cooking. Pat bacon dry before coating to help sugar stick. Watch oven closely near end to prevent sugar burning. Tent with foil if glaze caramelizes too fast. For extra crispiness, bake on a wire rack. Leftovers can be reheated in a 350°F oven for 5–7 minutes to re-crisp.
