A cozy, fizzy fall punch that tastes like autumn in a glass, with tart cranberries, sweet apple cider, and a hint of ginger. Perfect for gatherings and easy to make in under 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries (about 100g)
  • 2 cups apple cider (480ml)
  • 1 cup cranberry juice (240ml), 100% pure
  • 2 cups ginger ale (480ml), good quality
  • ½ cup orange juice (120ml)
  • 2–3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (30-45ml)
  • 2–3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger (about 2.5cm), thinly sliced
  • 1 apple (any variety), thinly sliced for garnish
  • 2–3 fresh rosemary sprigs (optional)
  • Ice cubes (large cubes or ice ring preferred)

Instructions

  1. Muddle the cranberries: Place 1 cup fresh cranberries in a small bowl. Using a wooden muddler or the back of a wooden spoon, gently press down on the berries until they just begin to split and release their juice. Do not crush into a paste. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the aromatics: Thinly slice the 1-inch piece of fresh ginger into rounds. Cut 2-3 cinnamon sticks in half lengthwise if desired.
  3. Combine the liquid base: In a large pitcher, pour together 2 cups apple cider, 1 cup cranberry juice, and ½ cup orange juice. Stir gently.
  4. Add sweetener and aromatics: Drizzle in 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup. Add sliced ginger and cinnamon sticks. Stir and taste; add another tablespoon of sweetener if needed.
  5. Chill the base: Refrigerate the pitcher for at least 30 minutes (up to 4 hours) to let flavors meld.
  6. Add the sparkle: Just before serving, remove pitcher from fridge. Gently pour in 2 cups ginger ale and stir slowly to combine without losing fizz.
  7. Garnish and serve: Add muddled cranberries (with juice), thin apple slices, and rosemary sprigs. Add ice cubes or an ice ring. Pour into glasses, ensuring each serving gets some cranberries and apple slice. Optionally, add a fresh cinnamon stick to each glass.

Notes

Don’t over-muddle cranberries to avoid bitterness. Chill the base before adding ginger ale to preserve fizz. Use a large ice ring instead of cubes to prevent dilution. For an alcoholic version, add 1 cup bourbon or spiced rum to the base before chilling. For a warm version, omit ginger ale and ice, warm the base with aromatics on the stovetop for 10 minutes.
