  • ½ cup (90g) assorted colorful sprinkles (jimmies, nonpareils, edible glitter, small star shapes)
  • Optional: a few drops of food coloring

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan over low heat, melt 3 tablespoons (45g) of unsalted butter slowly to avoid burning.
  3. Add 10 ounces (280g) of marshmallows to the melted butter and stir continuously with a wooden spoon or heat-resistant spatula until completely melted and smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Remove the pan from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  5. Immediately add 6 cups (180g) of Rice Krispies cereal and about ½ cup (90g) of assorted colorful sprinkles. Gently fold together with a spatula or wooden spoon, coating the cereal evenly without overmixing.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and press firmly but not too hard using a buttered spatula, wax paper, or lightly buttered hands to keep some airiness.
  7. Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes until firm. For faster setting, refrigerate for about 15 minutes.
  8. Cut into squares or fun shapes using cookie cutters and serve immediately or store as desired.

Notes

Use low heat to melt butter and marshmallows to avoid scorching. Add sprinkles after mixing cereal to keep colors vibrant. Press mixture gently to maintain crunchiness.
