A quick and easy sparkling sangria with pomegranate, orange, and apple, perfect for holiday gatherings. This festive drink balances tart pomegranate, citrusy orange, and crisp sparkling wine for a refreshing, crowd-pleasing cocktail.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large pomegranate (about 1 cup of arils)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) orange liqueur (triple sec, Cointreau, or Grand Marnier)
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry Prosecco or Cava
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) fresh-squeezed orange juice (about 2 oranges)
  • 1 large orange, sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 medium apple (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 whole cinnamon stick
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) simple syrup (optional)
  • Ice for serving

Instructions

  1. Prep the pomegranate: Cut the pomegranate in half horizontally. Hold one half over a bowl, cut-side down, and whack the back with a wooden spoon to release the seeds. Pick out any white pith. Repeat with the other half. You should have about 1 cup of arils.
  2. Slice the fruit: Cut the orange into thin rounds, about 1/4-inch thick. Core the apple and slice it into thin half-moons.
  3. Combine the base: In a large pitcher, add the pomegranate arils, orange slices, apple slices, and cinnamon stick. Pour in the orange liqueur and fresh orange juice. Stir gently with a wooden spoon.
  4. Chill and infuse: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight) to let the fruit infuse the liquid.
  5. Add the sparkling wine: Just before serving, slowly pour the chilled Prosecco or Cava into the pitcher. Stir gently to keep the bubbles intact. Taste and add simple syrup if desired.
  6. Serve with ice: Fill wine glasses with ice cubes. Pour the sangria over the ice, making sure each glass gets some fruit. Garnish with extra pomegranate seeds or an orange slice if desired.

Notes

For best flavor, let the sangria sit in the fridge for at least 2 hours before serving. Add the sparkling wine just before serving to keep the bubbles fresh. Use a dry sparkling wine to avoid excessive sweetness. For parties, make an ice ring with pomegranate seeds and orange slices to keep the punch cold without diluting.
