This cozy spiced pear fall sangria with cinnamon is a time machine in a glass—simple enough for a Tuesday night, special enough for a holiday party. With just 5 minutes of prep and simple ingredients, it’s the perfect fall drink that tastes like you spent hours on it.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio)
  • 2 ripe but firm pears (Bosc or Anjou)
  • 3–4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 cup sparkling water or club soda
  • 1/2 cup brandy or pear liqueur (optional)
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced (Honeycrisp or Fuji)
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • Fresh cranberries (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the fruit: Wash pears, apple, and orange. Core pears and apple, then slice into thin rounds or half-moons. Leave skin on. Slice orange into thin rounds, then cut each round in half. Rinse cranberries if using.
  2. Combine the base: In a large pitcher, add sliced pears, apple, orange, and cranberries. Tuck cinnamon sticks in among the fruit.
  3. Add the liquid: Pour entire bottle of white wine over the fruit. Add brandy or pear liqueur if using. Drizzle in honey or maple syrup.
  4. Stir gently: Use a wooden spoon to stir everything together gently until honey is mostly dissolved.
  5. Chill: Cover pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, ideally overnight.
  6. Add the fizz: Just before serving, pour in sparkling water or club soda and stir gently once.
  7. Serve: Fill glasses about three-quarters full with sangria, ensuring each glass gets some fruit and a cinnamon stick. Add ice if desired.

Notes

Don’t skip the overnight rest if possible—flavors meld and improve significantly. Use a dry wine to balance sweetness. Slice fruit thinly for better infusion. Taste before adding sweetener as pear sweetness varies. Make a double batch for gatherings. Store without sparkling water for up to 3 days in the fridge. Do not freeze.
