Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz brie cheese, at room temperature
  • 4 oz goat cheese log (plain or honey-infused)
  • 4 oz sharp white cheddar, sliced or cubed
  • Optional: herbed Boursin or wedge of blue cheese
  • 3 oz prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • 3 oz Genoa salami, rolled or folded
  • 2 oz capicola or soppressata
  • Vegetarian option: roasted marinated artichokes or grilled eggplant slices
  • 1 cup strawberries, halved or whole
  • 1/2 cup raspberries and/or blackberries
  • 1 cup red or green grapes, on the vine
  • 1 medium apple or pear, sliced and brushed with lemon juice
  • Optional: figs (fresh or dried, if in season)
  • 2 cups assorted crackers (water crackers, whole grain, seeded)
  • Toasted baguette slices (from 1 small loaf, drizzled with olive oil)
  • 1/2 cup pretzel crisps or mini breadsticks
  • 68 pieces dark chocolate squares or chocolate-covered strawberries
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 cup assorted nuts (roasted almonds, candied pecans, or pistachios)
  • 2 tbsp jelly or fruit preserves (strawberry or raspberry)
  • 1/4 cup olives or cornichons
  • 12 bottles champagne or sparkling wine
  • Edible flowers or fresh mint sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wipe down your serving board with a damp towel and dry. Bring cheeses to room temperature (about 30 minutes). Wash and dry all fruit. Slice baguette and toast in a 375°F oven for 5-7 minutes until golden, drizzling with olive oil if desired.
  2. Arrange brie, goat cheese, and cheddar evenly on the board. Keep brie whole, slice cheddar, and shape goat cheese into a log. Add Boursin or blue cheese if using.
  3. Fold or roll prosciutto and salami into ribbons or rosettes and arrange around cheeses. For vegetarian boards, fan out artichokes or eggplant slices.
  4. Pile grapes in a corner or drape between cheeses. Scatter strawberries, berries, and apple or pear slices around the board. Brush apple or pear slices with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  5. Fan out crackers and baguette slices in open spaces, alternating types for visual appeal. Add pretzel crisps or breadsticks.
  6. Place small bowls with honey, preserves, nuts, and olives around the board. Tuck in dark chocolate squares or chocolate-covered strawberries.
  7. Sprinkle edible flowers or mint sprigs for garnish. Optionally, drizzle a little champagne over berries or into the honey.
  8. Chill champagne bottles ahead of time. Pour into flutes just before serving. For a festive touch, add frozen berries to each glass.

Notes

Let cheeses come to room temperature for best flavor. Keep wet items in bowls to prevent soggy crackers. Customize with your favorite cheeses, meats, and fruits. For gluten-free, use rice crackers or gluten-free bread. Prep ingredients ahead and assemble just before serving for freshness.
