A quick and easy chili-infused hot honey drizzle that balances sweet and heat perfectly, ideal for drizzling over fried chicken, roasted veggies, or even ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) honey (preferably raw, local honey)
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons crushed red chili flakes (adjust to heat preference)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 small garlic clove, smashed (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Measure your ingredients: Gather 1 cup (240 ml) honey, 1-2 teaspoons crushed red chili flakes, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, 1 small smashed garlic clove, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Warm the honey: Pour the honey into your small saucepan over low heat. Warm gently for about 2-3 minutes until it’s fluid but not boiling (around 110°F or 43°C).
  3. Add the chili flakes and garlic: Stir in the chili flakes and garlic clove. Let the mixture simmer very gently for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Balance the flavors: Stir in 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar and a pinch of salt.
  5. Remove from heat: Take the pan off the stove and let the hot honey cool for about 10 minutes. For a smoother drizzle, strain out the chili flakes and garlic with a fine mesh strainer before transferring.
  6. Store the drizzle: Pour the hot honey into a clean glass jar or bottle. Seal tightly and store at room temperature for up to 3 weeks.

Notes

Keep heat low to avoid burning honey and losing flavor. Adjust chili flakes gradually to control spiciness. Use raw or unfiltered honey for best flavor. Stir occasionally while simmering. If crystallized, warm jar in hot water before use. For a smoky flavor, add smoked paprika or chipotle powder. Garlic is optional and can be omitted for a cleaner taste.
