These crispy prosciutto-wrapped asparagus bites combine salty, crunchy prosciutto with tender asparagus and a tangy balsamic glaze for a quick and impressive appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bunch asparagus (about 1215 spears), trimmed
  • 68 thin slices prosciutto, cut in half lengthwise
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (extra virgin preferred)
  • 1/4 cup balsamic glaze (store-bought or homemade)
  • Fresh ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder, a light sprinkle

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Trim the asparagus by snapping off the woody ends (about 1-2 inches from the bottom).
  3. Brush the asparagus lightly with about 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
  4. Season with black pepper and a pinch of garlic powder if using.
  5. Cut the prosciutto slices in half lengthwise to make long, thin strips.
  6. Wrap each asparagus spear tightly with a strip of prosciutto, spiraling upward.
  7. Arrange the wrapped spears on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the prosciutto is crispy and browned and the asparagus is tender but still slightly crisp. Flip halfway through baking if needed.
  9. Remove from oven and transfer to a serving platter.
  10. Drizzle with balsamic glaze while still warm.
  11. Serve immediately for best texture, or let cool slightly if preferred.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the baking sheet to ensure even crisping. Use thin prosciutto slices for best results. Watch baking time carefully to avoid burning. Let bites rest a minute before drizzling glaze to help it cling. For a quicker alternative, use an air fryer at 375°F for 8-10 minutes, shaking halfway through.
