A fun and easy Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in crispy crescent roll dough strips to look like mummies, perfect for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz / 227 g) crescent roll dough
  • 8 standard size hot dogs (about 1.6 oz / 45 g each)
  • Yellow mustard (for decorating eyes)
  • Ketchup (for decorating eyes)
  • Optional: Sesame seeds or poppy seeds for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Open the can of crescent roll dough and unroll onto a clean surface. Slice the dough into thin strips about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) wide using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  3. Wrap each hot dog with the dough strips, leaving small gaps to mimic mummy bandages. Avoid wrapping too tightly to allow crisping.
  4. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet with space between each.
  5. Use a toothpick or knife tip to place two small dots of mustard about 2 inches (5 cm) from the top of each wrapped hot dog. Add tiny ketchup dots inside the mustard dots for pupils.
  6. Optionally sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the dough is golden brown and crispy, checking after 10 minutes.
  8. Let cool for 3-5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use cold crescent roll dough for easier slicing. Leave gaps between dough strips to prevent sogginess. Space wrapped hot dogs on the baking sheet to allow air circulation. If dough browns too fast but hot dogs are not heated through, tent with foil. Reheat leftovers in oven or toaster oven to maintain crispiness; avoid microwave.
