Instructions

  1. Trim and rinse the green beans. Pat dry thoroughly to prevent steaming. (5 minutes)
  2. Toast the sliced almonds in a dry skillet over medium heat, stirring frequently until golden and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes. Transfer to a bowl immediately. (5 minutes)
  3. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir often and cook until it foams and turns a light golden-brown color with a nutty aroma, about 3-4 minutes. (4 minutes)
  4. Add the green beans to the browned butter. Toss to coat evenly. Spread them out in an even layer and cook undisturbed for 2 minutes to start crisping.
  5. Stir the beans and continue cooking for another 6-8 minutes, stirring every couple of minutes, until bright green with some crispy spots. If using garlic, add it in the last 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. (8-10 minutes)
  6. Remove the skillet from heat. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the green beans and toss in the toasted almonds. Stir gently to combine. (2 minutes)
  7. Serve immediately while hot and crisp.
