A fresh, tangy, and creamy homemade ranch dressing made with Greek yogurt and fresh herbs, perfect for salads, dips, and sandwiches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) plain Greek yogurt (full-fat recommended)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) buttermilk (or milk plus 1 tsp lemon juice as substitute)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (vegan mayo for dairy-free)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (kosher salt recommended)
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Chop the fresh parsley, dill, and chives finely and set aside.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, buttermilk, and mayonnaise until smooth and creamy.
  3. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce (if using), and lemon juice.
  4. Fold in the chopped parsley, dill, and chives gently.
  5. Add salt and black pepper, stir well and taste; adjust seasoning as needed. If too thick, add a splash more buttermilk to reach desired consistency.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, ideally 1-2 hours, to let flavors meld and dressing thicken.
  7. Before serving, stir the dressing again and thin with a teaspoon or two of water or buttermilk if needed.

Notes

Use plain Greek yogurt with no added flavors or sugars for best texture and tang. Fresh herbs are preferred; if using dried, use one-third the amount and adjust to taste. Chill dressing for best flavor and texture. For dairy-free, substitute Greek yogurt with coconut or cashew yogurt and use vegan mayo. Avoid adding too much liquid early to maintain a creamy texture. Can be gently warmed for sauce but avoid boiling.
